Located on the historic former High Brooms Brick and Tile Company site in Tunbridge Wells, this small complex site required intricate planning to deliver eight apartments.  

 

​The proposed buildings’ facades and overall massing have been carefully developed to bring an architecture to this area which is both contemporary and distinct. Given its historic context, the building facades showcase the versatility of brick with craftmanship, creating building facades which are both innovative and engaging.

Playful design features integrate into the facade, much in the way that houses built with the High Brooms Brick Company included distinct features such as motifs, mouldings, brick patterning, and layering of differing coloured brickwork.  Meticulous brick detailing showcases the raw, tactile beauty of the material. A canvas of texture, shadow, and rhythm.

Planning permission was successfully granted after close collaboration with local council planners and conservation, environmental and highways officers.
